This weekend, allow me to wish all of our mothers and grandmothers a Happy & Blessed Mother’s Day! There are not enough words to describe all that a mother does and no amount of pay would be enough for what she truly deserves. This weekend we offer special prayers for all of our mother’s living and deceased.
But while we celebrate and honor our mothers’ this weekend and while many of us have been blessed with the example of loving and caring mothers that, unfortunately, is not the case for everyone. As we celebrate this Mother’s Day we also remember and pray for all those for whom Mother’s Day is not a day of celebration, but rather a day of difficulty and challenge. We pray for expectant mothers and for all those who are struggling to be mothers, all those struggling to conceive, and all those struggling with infertility. We pray for those who have lost a child, whether that be through the pain of death, the suffering of a miscarriage, and all those mothers whose children have abandoned or neglected them. We pray for all those who have experienced the pain of separation or distance from their children or from their mother. We pray for those who have had a less than loving experience of motherhood and for all of our foster mothers and our step mothers. This weekend, we remember and we pray for all those who have experienced both the joys and the pains of motherhood.
