One of the great forms of prayer in our Church is intercessory prayer. So many of us have people and causes that we pray for on a regular, sometimes even daily basis. We pray for people who are sick, people who have died, we pray for peace, we pray for the unemployed, just to name a few. There are many ways and forms that we could ask our Lord’s intercession, one of those ways that we are very familiar with is through the offering of Masses. The Mass is the Church’s greatest possible prayer of intercession by virtue of its being the perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making present the Paschal Mystery.
On Monday, October 25th, we will open the Mass Books for 2022 at both parishes. Beginning on that day you will be able to call up or stop in to the parish to request Mass intentions for the upcoming year. So many of us have a list of names of people we would like to pray for and many significant days (birthday’s, anniversaries, etc.) that we would like to pray for them on. As we begin to open the Mass Book for the 2022 year and wanting to ensure that everyone has access to the possibility of offering Masses, to start out we will be following the following procedures....
For the first month of the Mass Book being open (between 10/25-when the Rectory opens AFTER Thanksgiving), each person will be limited to scheduling 5 Mass offerings (including 1 weekend Mass).
After the first month of the Mass Book being open (beginning when the Office opens AFTER Thanksgiving), then additional Masses beyond the original 5 can be scheduled (including additional weekend Masses).
Thank you for your understanding and please know of our continued prayers for all of the intercessions that all of you hold in the silence of your hearts!
