It’s Angel, Fr. John’s companion &, as I like to think about it, his “boss.” My dad’s been a bit busy working with everyone to make sure that everything is ready for this week, so I told him that I would put together a little something for this week’s bulletin to help him out.
Dad keeps talking about how special this week is. I think that he said it’s called Holy Week. While I’m trying to relax (dad says I’m really good at it) I keep watching him go up & down the stairs, back & forth to his office, making sure that all that needs to be done gets done. He’s been spending a lot of time typing, planning, & organizing recently & many days I’ve hopped into the back seat of dad’s car so that we can head back & forth between parishes. Many nights my dad crashes into his chair tired and tense & I hop up onto his lap to help him out the best way I can.
I love my dad & I know he loves me. When he’s busy getting everything ready or heading over to the church for another Mass or service or practice he tells me he’s doing what he’s doing because he loves God & he loves you. Dad tells me about the great love that is shown in these upcoming days from the washing of the feet, to Jesus dying on the cross, to the Blessing of FOOD ( that’s my favorite by far) & then Jesus rising from the dead. Wow, that’s a lot of love!
Please join us for the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper @ 7 pm. On Good Friday, Stations of the Cross will be prayed at Noon & the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion will be prayed at 3 pm. On Holy Saturday, we’ll have the Blessing of Food at Noon & the Easter Vigil which won’t begin until 8:30 pm. Easter Sunday Masses will be at 9:00 am (at St. Vincent de Paul) & 11:00 am (at St. Patrick). These are all beautiful prayers & liturgies & I invite you to join us for any or all of them.
My dad promises me that after this week is complete we’ll go to visit Grandma (I love going to visit her) & dad & I will spend a few days together not doing much other than playing out in the yard & taking some walks so I can say hi to the squirrels. Many doggy prayers to all of you for a Blessed & Holy Week ahead!
