In celebration of the feast day of St. Joseph (Wednesday, March 19th) an altar in his honor will be in the gathering place of our church. The altar will be up and ready to accept donations from Saturday, March 15th through Sunday, March 23rd. The St. Joseph’s Altar is an old tradition from Sicily after its people prayed to him to intercede to end a horrific famine. Their prayers were answered. They made beautiful altars to honor and thank him for his help. Each year on this Feast Day, bountiful altars or tables are created with a banquet of different foods. The altar/table has many symbols, some are: 3 tiers of the altar symbolize the Holy Trinity, fruits/ vegetables symbolize the abundance of food, white flowers or the Lily is a symbol of St. Joseph. This year in honor of St. Joseph, we humbly ask parishioners to help fill St. Joseph’s Altar/Table with non-perishable foods. All items will be given to our Hunger Center. Please bring your donations and place them on our altar, feel free to take a St. Joseph prayer card.
Let’s make our altar a bountiful one! Thank you for your continued generosity! ~ Your Parish Council
