This weekend, we have 3 important celebrations to remember. First, this Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day, & so certainly I join with you in wishing all of our Mother’s a most happy & blessed day!
Due to the restrictions of the current pandemic, we may not be able to be with our mother in person on this day, or if we do, we may have to see her from 6 feet away, but still the love of a mother knows no distance or time. We keep in prayer too all of our mothers who are celebrating this Mother’s Day with our Blessed Mother Mary & her Son up in heaven. At the conclusion of both Masses this weekend, I will offer a special blessing for all of our mothers.
This weekend too, I will celebrate a special May Crowning blessing after Communion at Mass at each parish. This will certainly be a much different way of doing May crowning than we’re used to. There will be no formal procession & I won’t be climbing up on a ladder while wearing vestments to crown Mary ;) but we will certainly still give her the fitting honor that is hers. It’s my plan & hope that next year we will be able to return to crowning her in the ways that we’ve been used to.
The final celebration that we remember occurs on Tuesday, May 12th. That day will mark the 13th anniversary of the priestly ordination of myself & my 3 classmates; Fr. H. Paul Kim, Fr. Joe Previte, & Fr. Mike Denk. There have been plenty of blessings, joys, challenges, & struggles over the past 12 years & I am blessed to be able to enter into my “teenage” years as a priest with both of our parish families! Have a blessed week & I look forward to seeing all of you again soon!
