This weekend, I wanted to provide an update on some of the capital projects that we have ongoing around the parish campus.
First, an update on our stained glass windows. It was a number of weeks ago now that the stained glass window panels in the choir loft were removed. The panels were taken by Azure Stained Glass to their studios where they are working on the renovation & restoration process. The restoration process does take some time & so it will not be until the fall, likely sometime in September or October (time TBA) that the inner window will begin to be reinstalled. The work on the outside of the window will begin in August, depending upon the weather. While the work is being completed, scaffolding will be erected around the front entrance of the Church. The scaffolding will not block the front entrance of the Church, so entering & exiting for weekend Masses & Funerals will not be affected.
We were also able to move closer towards completing the drywalling & painting in the stairwell leading up to the choir loft. The work was spearheaded by David, from the Jack Mulhall Center. There is still some final work that needs to be done to complete the project & David will complete that in the near future, but the stairwell is looking much, much better.
Finally, an upcoming project is the waterproofing & renovation of the basement/Lower Church. That is a project that we are beginning to look at undertaking next summer. Any contributions towards our Building Fund to help us be able to move this needed work forward will be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, until the renovations are completed, we will not be renting out the basement area for any functions outside of the regular AA meetings.
