As we enter into the month of October, I wanted to look at some upcoming events you might be interested in marking on your calendar.
I will be attending our bi-annual Priests’ Convocation this coming week, Oct. 4th-7th. Our weekday Mass schedule will be adjusted as only Fr. Clyde will be around, please consult the schedule in the bulletin.
Our annual Pet Blessing will be held, weather permitting, on Saturday, October 8th @ 1:00 pm in the parking lot. Those who are pet owners are invited to bring their pets, on leashes or in crates, to be blessed.
On Sunday, October 16th, @ the 11:00 Mass we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Those who are in need of God’s healing mercy and love due to physical or mental challenges, or who are preparing for serious surgery, or who are elderly are invited to be anointed. We will have the anointing only at the Sunday Masses that weekend as it allows both myself and Fr. Clyde to be present at the Mass at each parish to help with the anointing. If you desire to be anointed, please plan to attend the Mass on October 16th.
On Monday, October 17th we will pray a Living Rosary for Life (at St. Pat’s). Everyone is invited to come together to pray the Rosary with the intention of a greater respect throughout our coun- try and our world for life in all its stages.
Looking ahead, on Monday, Nov. 14th, I am planning on offering a talk on some of the great Saints of the Eucharist. These are some Saints who you’ve likely heard of before and others who may be new to you, whose lives, writings, etc. contributed significantly to the Eucharistic theology and practice of the Church. I’m planning this talk for 9:00 am (as long as no Funeral arises) at St. Vincent de Paul & 7:00 pm at St. Pat’s. Please feel free to attend whatever time at either parish that works best for you.
