“Repent & believe in the Gospel.” This Wednesday we’ll be invited to God’s continuous call to conversion & change as we enter into the season of Lent. Our Masses on Ash Wednesday will be celebrated at 9:00 am & 7:00 pm . Join us as we are signed with the sign of the cross, an outward sign of our call & hopefully our desire for an inward conversion more & more towards Christ. In case you’re wondering, we’re back, this year, to inscribing the ashes in the way we’ve been used to, on the forehead.
We get the ashes to begin our Lenten journey, but maybe it’s as they wipe away that the real challenge begins. As we decide upon what we’re going to “do” for Lent...how we’re going to give alms, how we’re going to pray, what we’re going to fast from...the challenge is to make sure that it’s something, some way, that is going to help bring about the true conversion that God intends for us.
Is giving up pop for Lent, for example, good? Well, yes, if that’s what draws us away from God or from loving others. But maybe there’s something deeper, something more challenging that we’re being called to undergo this upcoming Lenten season. Maybe God’s call to us is not simply to give up some extra calories or a sweet treat here or there, but rather to ask the question, “What is leading me away from God & from
others?” There’s a good place for us to start that journey of conversion!
We’ll have the Stations of the Cross most Fridays during Lent @ 7:00 pm. There won’t be any evening Stations on March 25th, due to the Tetelestai performance. Join us if you are able!
Have a Blessed Week!
