Hi there, everyone! It’s Fr. John’s “Boss” Angel again! My dad told me that many people enjoyed when I helped him with his column for Palm Sunday, so he asked me if I would be willing to help him by writing a column once a month. I told him that for a few extra treats a day, I’d be willing. My dad agreed, so here we are with the second installment of Angel’s Angle’s (I came up with the name all by myself, don’t let my dad tell you any different and take any of the credit).
Dad tells me all the time about what’s going on over in the church. He says that we are in the Easter season and that this is the 5th Sunday of Easter. He tells me that this weekend Jesus talks about how we should love one another! Love, such a great word. There’s a lot that I love. I love the sound of the food hitting my dish or the treat bag opening, after a long walk or playing out in the yard I love lapping water up out of my dish, and I love my dad. Here’s some- thing that I’ve come to realize, love is much more than a feeling, love shows itself in action. We can’t just feel love, we also have to show and to choose love.
As I think about it, my dad doesn’t just love me, he also loves all of you. I don’t want him to get a big head at all but I can tell how much my dad loves and cares for you. Even if he may not show it all the time, I know that he is very happy being your shepherd. He told me that this past Thursday he celebrated 15 years of being a priest. Wow, that’s a lot of providing food, water, and safety for so many people! I remind my dad all the time that he is not a perfect shepherd (I think that he knows that), but if he keeps striving each day to be more like the perfect Good Shep- herd, Jesus, he will help you to know and love Him more! Please pray for my dad and for all priests, that they might continue to love you and share the good news of the Good Shepherd with you! I can’t wait to share more Angel’s Angle’s again with you next month!
